Solar Power Rebates
Australian households and businesses can access significant government incentives to reduce the upfront cost of installing solar. The primary support mechanism is the Federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), complemented by additional state-based rebates and incentive programs.
Under the SRES, eligible solar PV systems generate Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) at the time of installation. These certificates are applied as an upfront discount on the system cost.
To qualify:
Installation must be completed by a Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited installer
Approved solar panels and inverters must be used
All regulatory and compliance standards must be met
The SRES rebate reduces each year and is legislated to conclude in 2030, making earlier installation more financially beneficial.
